What's happening in PresUniv
The design of public transportation services in Indonesia, especially that in urban areas, is still too focused on the engineering, such as infrastructure, facilities, and rolling stock. There is no emphasis on quality systems and quality assurance, especially in terms of service management. The transportation systems are not yet oriented towards customer service. Thus said Dr. Ir. Milatia Moemin, MSc., MBA, Director of Perum DAMRI, in the Webinar Urban Transportation Management webinar entitled ‘Management of Urban Transportation Companies and the Infrastructure Needed’, Wednesday (8/6).
The webinar was organized by the Civil Engineering Study Program, President University (PresUniv), and opened by the Rector of PresUniv Prof. Dr. Chairy. Another speaker was Ir. Prihartono, M.Eng.Sc., lecturer of Civil Engineering Study Program, PresUniv. Then, what is required in building a public transportation system? According to Milatia, public transportation systems require both engineering development along with a quality system and quality assurance. These should be developed in parallel, to ensure consistence, and continuity.
Meanwhile, Prihartono described a portrait of public transport infrastructure in Jakarta. Prihartono said, Jakarta has several types of public transport, such as MRT, KRL, LRT, and BRT. According to him, "MRT is the best transportation in Jakarta compared to others in terms of punctuality, good access for disabled and elderly travelers, information, and headway." Prihartono added that in general two main factors affect public transportation, namely land use and the road network system. (Gilang Suryanata, PR team. Photo: Gilang)
