Published: 07 Dec 2021

Bureau of Internship and Career Center (ICC), President University (PresUniv), held a Focus Group Discussion (FGD) for study programs under the Faculty of Engineering, Wednesday (01/12). This FGD presented representatives from companies that are partners of PresUniv. They are Niken Kastubamani and Pingkan Zanita Islamiati from PT Pertamina (Persero), Mintari Yulianingsih and Yon Guretno from PT Jasa Marga (Persero), Farianto and Varid Erlangga from PT XL Axiata Tbk, and Yuda Pamungkas representing PT Innovation Solusi Transportasi Indonesia or better known as PT Frogs Indonesia.

This FGD raised two important focuses, namely evaluating the performance of interns from PresUniv or PresUniv graduates who work in these companies and the profile of the human resources that will become the company's needs in the next 2-3 years. Mintari from Jasa Marga emphasized the importance of students or graduates who know industry regulations. She said, “UU Cipta Kerja is important to become the knowledge of students or graduates. Then, other laws or regulations related to the industry, such as Analisis Mengenai Dampak Lingkungan (AMDAL) and its derivatives. Or regulations on borrowing and using forest areas, sustainable use of agricultural land for food, and so on. Students or graduates need to know about this regulation."

Another thing that students and graduates need to have is the soft skill aspect. According to Pingkan, “Even though they are still interns, students still need to master soft skills. The soft skills needed by companies are usually open-minded, quick to learn, and active in communicating, such as mastering the language and speaking,” said Pingkan. Meanwhile, Yuda emphasized the importance of students or graduates having an integrated solution-oriented mindset to problems that arise. "Visionary thinking, critical thinking, able to do calculations and think systematically are also needed," said Yuda. (Chiky Nur Gunawan, ICC team. Photo: Doc. ICC).
