Raden Viery, a student of the Information Systems Study Program, Faculty of Computer Science at President University (Presuniv) class of 2022, has successfully clinched first place in the Prabu Taekwondo National Championship. This championship, organized annually by the Prabu team, operates under the auspices and support of the Ministry of Youth and Sports (Kemenpora) and the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology (Kemendikbudristek).

The championship took place over three days, from March 1st to March 3rd, 2024. The matches were held at the Stadium Sport Center in Tangerang Regency, Banten. Approximately 700 taekwondo athletes from 28 provinces across Indonesia participated in this championship.

In addition to representing their provinces, these athletes also served as representatives from various universities, including Universitas Negeri Jakarta, Universitas Ahmad Dahlan, Universitas Muhammadiyah Purwokerto, Universitas Esa Unggul, Universitas Kristen Duta Wacana, and others.

Raden explained that there was no specific selection process for the competing athletes. They were simply divided into two criteria: based on achievement or as beginners. "This criteria is usually determined by the coach according to their abilities and belt levels," Raden explained. For Raden, representing President University falls under the achievement criteria.

During the matches, sensors were installed on the protectors and head guards. "So, if a punch or kick hits the body or head, the athlete will receive points," Raden said. The referee determines the winner based on who scores the most points in the two-round match. "If the athletes have the same score after the two rounds, the match will proceed to the third round," Raden added.

In the championship, Raden competed in five matches. "I managed to win every game, reaching the finals. And, in the end, I won the gold medal," Raden said proudly.

With this achievement, Raden hopes that his success does not stop there. "I must continue to learn, remain humble, and not be satisfied with my achievements. I hope to retain this championship title and uphold the good name of President University both nationally and beyond," Raden expressed. (Nadiya Dwi Anggrayani, PR team.
