Rey Abraham has won four different national speech competitions in the past few days. On Sunday (12/13), the International Relations student batch 2018, President University (PresUniv), won 2nd place in the Reach Speech Competition which was held online by Padang State University, West Sumatra. With the theme "Stay Gold in Pandemic", Rey discussed the importance of seeking and taking advantage of opportunities in the midst of a pandemic, especially opportunities to expand one's capacity so that one can contribute more to society.

On Saturday (12/5) Rey even got 1st place in the Speech Divergent competition organized by UIN Sultan Alauddin, Makassar. Still, with a similar theme, Rey explained the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic on the Indonesian economy, such as layoffs and GDP contraction. The day after that, Monday (6/12), Rey also won 2nd place in the Speech Big Competition held by the English and Arabic Student Association (EASA), Purwokerto State Islamic Institute. Finally, Rey won 3rd place in the SAEC Speech Competition which was held by the Sultan Agung English Club, Sultan Agung Islamic University, Semarang, on Tuesday (8/12).

Rey mentioned that he was happy and proud because through the various speech competitions he participated in, he was able to develop his public speaking skills as well as increase his knowledge of the latest issues. He revealed that the key to his success in winning the competition was due to his concern for Indonesia's development and his passion for reading books. (SL/JBS)

 


 

Rey Abraham Menangkan Empat Ajang Kompetisi Pidato

 

Rey Abraham berhasil menjadi juara pada empat kompetisi pidato nasional berbeda dalam waktu yang berdekatan. Minggu (13/12), mahasiswa Hubungan Internasional, President University (PresUniv), ini menjadi juara ke-2 dalam Reach Speech Competition yang diadakan secara online oleh Universitas Negeri Padang, Sumatera Barat. Dengan tema “Stay Gold in Pandemic”, Rey membahas pentingnya melihat dan memanfaatkan kesempatan di tengah pandemi, terutama kesempatan untuk memperbesar kapasitas diri agar dapat berkontribusi lebih besar bagi masyarakat.

Sabtu (5/12) sebelumnya, Rey bahkan berhasil meraih juara ke-1 dalam kompetisi Speech Divergent yang diselenggarakan oleh  UIN Sultan Alauddin, Makassar. Masih dengan tema serupa, Rey memaparkan dampak pandemi Covid-19 terhadap ekonomi Indonesia, seperti terjadinya PHK dan kontraksi perekonomian. Sehari setelahnya, Senin (6/12), Rey juga menjadi juara ke-2 pada Speech Big Competition yang diadakan oleh English and Arabic Student Association (EASA), Institut Agama Islam Negeri Purwokerto. Terakhir, Rey berhasil meraih juara ke-3 dalam SAEC Speech Competition yang diadakan Sultan Agung English Club, Universitas Islam Sultan Agung, Semarang, pada Selasa (8/12).

Rey mengaku senang dan bangga, karena melalui berbagai kompetisi pidato yang diikutinya, ia dapat mengembangkan kemampuan public speaking sekaligus menambah pengetahuannya terhadap isu-isu terkini. Ia mengungkap, kunci keberhasilannya memenangkan lomba adalah karena kepeduliannya terhadap perkembangan Indonesia dan kegemarannya membaca buku. (SL/JBS)
