Clarita Mawarni Salem, a beautiful and talented girl from East Nusa Tenggara, is Putri Pariwisata Indonesia 2019. Mawar Salem, as she is called, managed to beat 26 finalists on the night of the Grand Final of the 2019 Tourism Women's Election. For her achievements, on Tuesday (27/10), President University made Mawar Salem the Executive Ambassador.
Mawar, born on December 13, 2001, chose to study the Communication Studies Program at President University. The reason is, she wants to follow the footsteps of her seniors. She said, "I am curious why the seniors who used to excel at school, after study at President University, get more and more achievements. That's why I want to follow in their footsteps."
In the story of Mawar, initially, she wanted to be a doctor. However, after a year as the Princess of Tourism in Indonesia, Mawar felt that Communication was the right choice for her. Moreover, previously she was also the Public Relations (PR) of the El John Indonesia Foundation, a foundation founded by entrepreneur Jonnie Sugiarto, engaged in human resource development, cultural preservation, and tourism promotion. As a PR, Mawar often becomes the host and presenter in various activities.
Behind her current achievements, Mawar has many stories to tell. She said, at first, her parents did not support her desire to become Putri Pariwisata Indonesia. Even so, Mawar insisted. To fulfill her wish, Mawar went alone to her sibling’s place in Kupang. She stayed there for three months to prepare herself. After undergoing a long and tiered process, Mawar reached the national level and finally became Putri Pariwisata Indonesia 2019.
Armed with her experience, Mawar advised fellow Indonesian youths to never give up on achieving their dreams. "We have to fight and keep fighting," she said. Mawar believes that one's achievements are not solely due to luck but struggle. "Where there is a will, there is a way. Don't be complacent and always set new targets,” she ordered.
As the Executive Ambassador of President University, Mawar hopes to inspire many young generations, as her seniors also inspire her. "To inspire is not only with words but also with actions," she said. While studying at President University, Mawar hopes to become more mature and more accomplished. She closed her story by saying, "Always optimistic, never stop dreaming, and keep fighting until you can touch the sky." (SD)

Clarita Mawarni Salem, gadis cantik dan berbakat dari Nusa Tenggara Timur, adalah Putri Pariwisata Indonesia 2019. Mawar Salem, begitu panggilannya, berhasil menyisihkan 26 finalis pada malam Grand Final Pemilihan Putri Pariwisata 2019. Atas capaiannya, pada Selasa (27/10), President University menjadikan Mawar Salem sebagai Executive Ambassador.
Mawar, yang lahir 13 Desember 2001, memilih kuliah di Program Studi Komunikasi di President University. Alasannya, ingin mengikuti jejak seniornya. Katanya, “Saya penasaran, mengapa para senior yang dulu berprestasi di sekolah, setelah kuliah di President University, menjadi semakin banyak prestasinya. Itu sebabnya saya ingin mengikuti jejak mereka.”
Cerita Mawar, sebetulnya semula ia ingin menjadi dokter. Namun, setelah setahun menjadi Putri Pariwisata Indonesia, Mawar merasa bahwa Komunikasi adalah pilihan yang paling tepat untuknya. Apalagi sebelumya ia juga pernah menjadi Public Relation (PR) Yayasan El John Indonesia, sebuah yayasan yang didirikan oleh pengusaha Jonnie Sugiarto, bergerak dalam bidang pengembangan SDM, pelestarian budaya dan promosi pariwisata. Sebagai PR, Mawar kerap menjadi host dan presenter di berbagai kegiatan.
Di balik capaiannya saat ini, ternyata Mawar memiliki banyak cerita. Katanya, semula orang tuanya kurang mendukung keinginannya untuk menjadi Putri Pariwisata Indonesia. Meski begitu Mawar bersikeras. Untuk mewujudkan keinginannya, Mawar pergi sendiri ke tempat saudaranya di Kupang. Ia menetap di sana selama tiga bulan untuk mempersiapkan diri. Setelah menjalani proses panjang dan berjenjang, Mawar pun sampai ke tingkat nasional dan akhirnya menjadi Putri Pariwisata Indonesia.
Berbekal pengalamannya, Mawar berpesan kepada sesama generasi muda Indonesia untuk tidak pernah menyerah dalam meraih cita-cita. “Kita harus berjuang dan terus berjuang,” tegasnya. Mawar percaya bahwa pencapaian seseorang bukan semata-mata karena keberuntungan, tetapi perjuangan. “Di mana ada kemauan, di situ ada jalan. Jangan cepat puas dan selalu buat target-target baru,” pesannya.
Sebagai Executive Ambassador President University, Mawar berharap ia dapat menginspirasi banyak generasi muda, sebagaimana ia juga terinspirasi oleh para seniornya. “Menginspirasi itu tidak hanya dengan kata-kata, tetapi juga dengan perbuatan,” katanya. Selama kuliah di President University, Mawar berharap bisa menjadi lebih dewasa dan lebih berprestasi lagi. Ia menutup ceritanya dengan ucapan, “Selalu optimis, jangan pernah berhenti bermimpi, dan terus berjuang sampai bisa menyentuh langit.” (SD)
