President University received a white Daihatsu Ayla car from PT. Astra Daihatsu Motor which will be used as a practicum media for students of the Faculty of Engineering. The handover event was held on 13 August 2020 at the President University Building. The grant was received directly by Prof. Dr. Jony Oktavian Haryanto as the Rector of President University and Dr.-Ing. Erwin Sitompul, M.Sc. as the Dean of the Faculty of Engineering, also delivered by Pradipto Sugondo as the Research & Development Executive Office of PT. Astra Daihatsu Motor.
One of the Mechanical Engineering lecturers who teaches the Computer-Aided Design (CAD) course, Nanang Ali Sutisna, M.Eng., said that this grant really helps the learning process in the courses he teaches. "With the real model (Ayla car), students can easily understand the aerodynamic shape of the vehicle body design in detail and know the real application of surface design," he said. Surface Design itself is one of the topics in the CAD course that discusses software-based design in the form of a surface model.
In line with Nanang, Dr.-Ing. Erwin Sitompul, M.Sc. mentioned that later this car will be useful not only for Mechanical Engineering students, but also for Electrical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, and other engineering students. "My hope is that students can make good use of the new facilities in this laboratory so that they can get hands-on experiences as much as possible," he said. (SL)
President University Menerima Hibah Daihatsu Ayla untuk Kegiatan Praktikum Fakultas Teknik
President University menerima hibah dari PT. Astra Daihatsu Motor berupa sebuah mobil Daihatsu Ayla berwarna putih yang akan digunakan sebagai media praktikum mahasiswa Fakultas Teknik President University. Acara serah terima dilaksanakan pada 13 Agustus 2020 di Gedung President University. Hibah diterima langsung oleh Prof. Dr. Jony Oktavian Haryanto selaku Rektor President University dan Dr.-Ing. Erwin Sitompul, M.Sc. selaku Dekan Fakultas Teknik President University, serta diserahkan oleh Pradipto Sugondo selaku Research & Development Executive Office dari PT. Astra Daihatsu Motor.
Salah seorang dosen Teknik Mesin pengampu mata kuliah Computer Aided Design (CAD), Nanang Ali Sutisna, M.Eng., menyebutkan bahwa adanya hibah ini sangat membantu proses belajar di mata kuliah yang ia ajar. “Dengan adanya real model (mobil Ayla) ini, mahasiswa dapat lebih mudah memahami bentuk desain badan kendaraan yang aerodinamis secara detail serta mengetahui aplikasi nyata surface design,” ujarnya. Surface Design sendiri merupakan salah satu topik dalam mata kuliah CAD yang membahas tentang desain berbasis perangkat lunak dalam bentuk model surface.
Senada dengan Nanang, Dr.-Ing. Erwin Sitompul, M.Sc. menyebutkan bahwa nantinya mobil ini akan berguna tidak hanya bagi mahasiswa Teknik Mesin, namun juga untuk mahasiswa Teknik Elektro, Teknik Industri, dan teknik lainnya. “Harapan saya, mahasiswa dapat memanfaatkan fasilitas baru di laboratorium ini dengan baik sehingga memperoleh hand-on experience sebanyak mungkin,” ujarnya.
