On Friday, March 8, 2024, the Faculty of Medicine at President University (Presuniv) held a Presidential Lecture with the topic "What Inspires the Next Generation in Healthcare? Exploring Prof. Dr. Carina Joe’s Perspective." The event took place at Theater 1 and 2, President University Convention Center, Jl. H. Usmar Ismail, Kota Jababeka, Cikarang. The speaker for this Presidential Lecture was Prof. (HC UA) Dr. Carina Joe, one of the researchers involved in the AstraZeneca vaccine. The event, which was structured as a talk show, was moderated by Prof. Dr. dr. Budi Setiabudiawan, Sp.A(K), M.Kes., Dean of the Faculty of Medicine at Presuniv.
During the event, Prof. Carina shared her experience conducting vaccine research. "It's an invaluable experience because I got to collaborate with experts from various countries," she said. In this session, Prof. Budi and Prof. Carina also discussed technology issues in the medical field. "There are many technologies currently being applied in the medical field. For example, genetic engineering, stem cells, or the use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) applications to predict protein structures. With these technologies, doctors can cure diseases that were previously difficult to treat," explained Prof. Carina.
This Presidential Lecture was held in a hybrid format. Hundreds of participants, including Vice Rector for Academic Affairs, Research, and Innovation Dr. Adhi Setyo Santoso, ST. MBA, healthcare practitioners, representatives from companies, and students, attended in person at the Theater Room. Meanwhile, other participants joined online via the Zoom application.
