For three days, from Friday to Sunday, February 16-18, 2024, dozens of students from the Architecture Study Program at the Faculty of Engineering, President University (Presuniv), undertook a field visit to Tanjung Lesung in the Pandeglang Regency, Banten Province. Tanjung Lesung was designated as a Special Economic Zone (SEZ) for Tourism by President Joko Widodo on February 23, 2015.

Tanjung Lesung is a coastal resort area covering 1,500 hectares located to the west of Jakarta. According to the Head of the Architecture Study Program, Erina Asyera, S.Ars., M.Ars., this field visit is part of a learning process characterized as a real-world project-based study. "This learning approach is one of the strengths of the Architecture Study Program at President University," she expressed.

Erina further explained that in every design studio learning process, students are challenged to address real-world design problems. She said, "This is to develop the ability and sensitivity to analyze the potential of the project location and incorporate this in the design process." For second-year Architecture Study Program students, their project was to design tourism facilities and they are expected to address real-world  issues facing the development of Badur Beach in the Tanjung Lesung area. During the visit, students will analyze the site (design area) and study the existing facilities there. (JB Susetiyo, PR team. Report and Photos: Selly Veronica).
