As part of the Economic Survival course, President University (Presuniv) organized a seminar titled "Navigating the Professional Landscape: An Insightful Seminar on Professional Conference Organization." This seminar was part of a series of guest lectures, that took place on Wednesday, January 24, 2024, at the Charles Himawan Auditorium, 5th floor, Building A, Presuniv Campus on Jl. Ki Hajar Dewantara, Jababeka Education Park, Cikarang, Bekasi. This session featured guest speaker Prof. Dr. Nurdin Purnomo, an academician, politician, and tourism business practitioner.
In his presentation, Prof. Nurdin discussed the Meeting, Incentive, Convention, and Exhibition (MICE) business, referred to by tourism business practitioners as The Meeting Industry. "Advanced countries, such as Japan with its Tokyo Motor Show, or Germany with the Frankfurt Auto Motor Show or Frankfurt Book Fair, have already made MICE a cornerstone of their tourism sector. Meanwhile, in Indonesia, the MICE business has not yet been well-explored," expressed Prof. Nurdin. He attributed this to a lack of knowledge about MICE. "Fortunately, there are now educational institutions in Indonesia providing lessons on MICE," Prof. Nurdin added. Therefore, he emphasized that the MICE business sector should be developed due to its significant multiplier effect, such as the creation of numerous job opportunities. (JB Susetiyo, PR team.
