On Tuesday, October 31, 2023, the Law Science Study Program, Faculty of Humanities, in collaboration with the Legal Aid and Consultation Institution (Lembaga Konsultasi Bantuan Hukum or LKBH), both from President University (Presuniv), held a seminar on the topic of Generative AI and Creativity. The seminar, which was held at the Charles Himawan Auditorium on the 5th floor of Building A, Presuniv Campus in Jababeka City, Cikarang, featured Professor Dr. Stefan Koos, an international business law expert from Bundeswehr University Munich, Germany, as the speaker. The seminar was moderated by Dr. Dra. Fennieka Kristianto, SH, MH, MA, MKn, the Director of Legal Affairs at Presuniv. Among the attendees were the Head of the Law Study Program, Bayu Imantoro, SH, and MH, along with several faculty members and students from the study program.

During his presentation, Prof. Koos discussed ChatGPT and GPT-4. He said, "This is artificial intelligence (AI) based on algorithms and statistics that can analyse large amounts of data and recognise patterns." However, as an AI, ChatGPT has some limitations. "This is because the last data input to ChatGPT was in September 2021. So, for events that occurred after that date, the responses provided by ChatGPT are often incorrect or inaccurate," explained Prof. Koos. He then provided several examples.

Furthermore, can works created with AI be protected by copyright? According to Prof. Koos, if we use AI as a tool, the resulting works can have copyright protection. However, if design decisions are generated by AI or a machine, the resulting works do not have copyright protection. "So, what if the design decisions are a collaborative effort between AI and humans? That depends on the degree of human involvement," Prof. Koos emphasized. During the seminar, Prof. Koos presented some case studies. (JB Susetiyo, PR team. Photo: JB Susetiyo)
