The symposium presented speakers Prof. Dr. Budi Setiabudiawan, dr., Sp.A(K), M.Kes, Dean of the Faculty of Medicine, Presuniv, and guided by dr. Edhyana Sahiratmadja, Ph.D., Head of the Medical Study Program. Present on occasion was the Chairman of the Presidential University Education Foundation, Prof. Dr. Ir. In his presentation, Prof. Budi explained that vitamin D is a steroid, but it does not have the negative effects of other steroids. "Recently, vitamin D has attracted the attention of the medical community because of its function in improving the immune system. On the other hand, as much as 80% of vitamin D comes from the sun. That's why vitamin D is also often called the sunshine vitamin. For those of us who live in Indonesia and the equator, the availability of vitamins is very abundant. "The rest of the vitamin D is obtained from supplements or food ingredients," explained Prof. Budi. In the context of growing immunity, he continued, vitamin D plays a very important role in increasing the body's ability to fight infections and reducing the risk of autoimmune diseases.

According to Prof. Budi, vitamin D also plays a role in forming the placenta. "That's why adequate vitamin D is very important for pregnant women. "If pregnant women lack a supply of vitamin D, the placenta will not form well," emphasized Prof. Budi. As a result, food intake from pregnant women to babies in the womb becomes less than optimal. Prof. said. Budi, "This could potentially trigger stunting." On that occasion, Prof. Budi also explained several recent research related to the role of vitamin D in improving the immune system, including its role in restoring health.
