On Tuesday, 8 August 2023, the Faculty of Humanities, President University (Presuniv), held a Focus Group Discussion (FGD) with the theme Waste Management for the Circular Economy, in Building B, Presuniv Campus, Kota Jababeka, Cikarang, Bekasi. The FGD brought together energy management experts, waste management practitioners, start-up companies in the environmental sector, and the Regional Research and Development Agency, Bekasi Regency, West Java.

According to the Dean of the Faculty of Humanities, Dr. Endi Haryono, Presuniv has played a role in managing waste in the Jababeka area, Cikarang. Their involvement is part of the University's application of the Tri-Dharma concept. This event was also in line with the concepts of the Jababeka industrial estate, which supports the concept of sustainable development by promoting the concept of zero waste, cleaner production, green productivity, or green companies. Jababeka, as an industrial estate, offers developers many opportunities to support sustainable economic production. But, on the other hand, there is also a threat of unintegrated waste management.

The FGD also discussed input from various parties on ways to manage waste, including discussing various new initiatives. Meanwhile, the start-up company Briga Sustainability Center shared its experience of building its waste management community in Bantul, Yogyakarta, and Lombok.
