What's happening in PresUniv

Published: 12 Apr 2023

Jalu Wening Wangsanagara, a student of the Mechanical Engineering Study Program batch of 2021, Faculty of Engineering, President University (Presuniv), participated in the International Conference on Materials Engineering and Nano Sciences (ICMENS 2023) at Chiba University, Japan, April 7-10, 2023. ICMENS 2023 is an international conference organized to bring together researchers, practitioners, and educators from interdisciplinary sciences to exchange experiences, discuss innovations, trends, and practical challenges, and find solutions in materials engineering and nanoscience.

Jalu presented his research entitled Tensile Behaviour of SM520B-1G Plate by SMAW Joint Applied for Elevated Highway Road Construction. He evaluated SM520B welded plates used in the Jakarta-Cikampek elevated toll road by studying the mechanical and chemical properties of toll construction steel plates. Are the mechanical and chemical properties of the steel plates following safety standards? Jalu and Dr. Eng. Lydia Anggraini, S.T., M.Eng, Head of Mechanical Engineering Study Program and his supervisor, conducted this research. Lydia was also invited to be a guest speaker in a special session at ICMENS 2023.

Lydia hopes that other students can emulate Jalu's success in participating in international conferences. She also hopes that students will be actively involved in conducting research with lecturers to develop their potential early on. "Besides fulfilling learning obligations on campus, I invite students to participate in lecturer research in order to reach their full potential. Jalu's experience can be used as a reference by other students in order to motivate themselves," said Lydia. (Keren Gracelie, PR team. Photo: Jalu Wening W)
