What's happening in PresUniv

On Wednesday, April 5, 2023, the Internship & Career Center (ICC) Bureau at President University (Presuniv) held a Career Talk with the topic How to Game the Applicant Tracking System: Preparing for Successful Internship Application. This event is part of student preparation before undergoing an internship program in May and September 2023. The speaker at this Career Talk is Ghilmansyah Amri, an alumni of the Management Study Program at Presuniv, class of 2017.

At the event, which was held virtually, Ghilman shared tips on how to prepare a curriculum vitae (CV) that will  pass the ATS selection. ATS stands for Applicant Tracking System, this is an application to check whether the CV sent by applicants meets the criteria set by the company. "Imagine if a company opens vacancies and the number of applicants reaches thousands. If the selection process is done manually, it will certainly take a lot of time. That is why recently more and more companies are using ATS," said Ghilman.

ATS makes a selection using keywords. Explained Ghilman, "In order to pass the ATS selection, the expertise or skills listed in the CV must match with the criteria for the position being applied for." For example, companies open internship opportunities as Sales Engineers, with one of the requirements "developing a new account". Then, what qualifications should students list considering they have never worked? Ghilman explained, "Students can include their experience in organization. For example, become committee member for natural disaster fundraising charity that  managed to collect IDR 25 million." This kind of qualification, as Ghilman emphasized, is in accordance with the company's needs. (JB Susetiyo, PR team. Photo: JB Susetiyo).
