Communication Study ProgramPresident University (PresUniv), held an online lecture together with Sputnik, Friday (8/7). Sputnik is a Russian-owned global news agency and radio service. The online lecture was titled “How International Media Cope with Digital Age”, and presented by  Oleg Dmitriev, advisor at Rossiya Segodnya and Professor at The School of Media, Higher School of Economics (HSE) University, Russia.

The lecture was opened by the Head of Communication Study Program of PresUniv, M. Raudy Gathmyr, S.Sos., M.SiRaudy briefly explained the profile of the Communication Study Program which has 600 students with three concentrations, namely Public Relations, Film, and TV/Broadcast Journalism. Raudy said, this course material is very important not only for Journalism students, but also for all Communication Study Program students. "Hopefully all students will take advantage of this opportunity to gain insights from Industry practitioners. This will help students on their path  to becoming digital media specialists," said Raudy. 

In his presentation, Oleg told how the system works at Sputnik as an international media. He explained, when talking about international broadcasts, especially when dealing with many languages, broadcasts are not enough just to be translated. Oleg further explained, "It is very important not only to be translated, but we also have to be able to create relevant texts for the intended audience." This is what distinguishes Sputnik from other international media. Oleg said, Sputnik has several newsrooms with different languages. To keep up with today's modern media, continued Oleg, they always try to create a conversational atmosphere through storytelling that is always tailored to the audience.
