The 2022 International Conference on Family Business and Entrepreneurship (ICFBE) which was held on Thursday (2/6) contained presentations by two keynote speakers. One of them was Adhi S. Lukman, General Chairperson of the Indonesian Food and Beverage Entrepreneurs Association (GAPMMI). In this session, Adhi presented material about Post pandemic Prospects for the Food and Beverage Industry.

Adhi said, Indonesia is an archipelagic country with the 4th largest population in the world. "A total of 49.25% of the populations spending in Indonesia is on food & beverage (F&B). Processed products make up 15.63% of the F&B spending," said Adhi. For the population demographics of Indonesia, as much as 53.81% of the majority of the population is millennials and generation Z. Characteristically    these two generations have a low level of brand loyalty. They like to try new products and experiences. This, according to Adhi, is an opportunity for all industries, especially the F&B industry, to innovate more with new products, and not just to rely on products with low prices.

During the post-pandemic recovery period, said Adhi, the trend of food and beverage consumption has also changed. According to him, most consumers currently pay more attention to product origin, packaging, food safety, they now prefer home delivery, and foods that boosts immunity. Adhi said, "They also want to reduce their consumption of street snacks." There is also the latest trend, namely plant-based food. Adhi concluded, “The upper middle-class people are looking for healthier food options, especially for dieting. This is an opportunity for us to innovate and provide healthier food choices.” (Silvia Desi Betrice, PR team. Photo: Silvia)
