Writing is hard. However, the more often we write, the more structured and clear our writing will become. The key is to practice as often as possible. This was stated by Angelina Arin, (Chevening Scholarship Awardee and graduatee from the University of Sheffield) at the English Forum 2022, Saturday (14/5). The English Forum 2022 is an event organized by the PUMA Primary School Teacher Education, President University (PresUniv), which was open to the public and free for high school and university students. This event was held over two days.

As a speaker on the first day of the English Forum 2022, Angelina delivered material on How to Nail Your Essay Writing: a Mini Guide to Navigate The Essay Writing Process. She said, there are three barriers in writing essays using English. First, English is not our mother tongue. Second, we are not accustomed to writing in English. “Generally, we speak more than we write in English, so that affects the way we write. Speaking and writing have different grammar,” She explained.

Lastly is effort and resources. According to Angelina, the effort needs to be doubled when writing essays in English. "When writing an essay, many resources are also needed to enrich our arguments in essays," she said. At this event, Angelina also shared tips on writing essays, such as there is shoukld only be one main idea in each paragraph, making it clear for your reader, using rhythm in writing so that it is not monotonous, and do not write and proofread on the same day.
