The book Growing Under Pressure, a joint work by Iman Permana and Jazak Yus Afriansyah, was the subject of a book review event held by Worldwide Quality Assurance (WQA) and the Rumah Inovasi, Friday (11/2). Iman Permana is a lecturer at President University (PresUniv), and Jazak Yus Afriansyah is a student of the Master of Management in Technology program, PresUniv.

In his presentation, Iman explained pressure with the analogy of physics, namely with the illustration of three pieces of paper pressed by the index finger. The index finger is called pressure, while the paper reaction is stress. Said Iman, “Reaction or response to pressure can happen to anything. Not only living things, but lifeless objects can also react." For humans, said Iman, what is important is not the pressure but how we respond.

Meanwhile, Jazak discussed how to grow and develop together with pressure. Jazak explained that there are three things that can be a motor response, namely beliefs, attitudes, and mindsets. He said, "If attitudes are influenced by positive beliefs, it will produce positive thinking and positive feelings." He continued that positive thinking or thinking is a function of the brain and logic, while feeling is a function of the heart that contains emotions. "Both are needed because they influence and balance each other," he explained. (Chiky Nur Gunawan, ICC team. photo: JB Susetiyo)
