AFPI was appointed by the Financial Services Authority (OJK) as the official association for lending and borrowing services and carrying out the regulatory and supervisory functions. Every year AFPI regulates and oversees the disbursement of trillions of rupiah in fintech lending. In fact, as quoted from Liputan6.com, this year, AFPI is targeting lending of Rp. 86 trillion. AFPI is trusted to provide information and as a place for complaints about fintech services, especially P2P Lending in Indonesia. Amid the current rise of digital crime, AFPI also plays a role in educating the public about illegal fintech services.

Handa said he was in charge of processing violations committed by fintech companies that are AFPI members. "The form of violation, for example, is the billing process that is not in accordance with the AFPI Code of Conduct," he said. Apart from Handa, the other members of the AFPI Ethics Committee are primarily lawyers. Handa also said that being a member of the AFPI Ethics Committee is a form of his community service.
