What's happening in PresUniv

Published: 21 Jun 2021

Tuesday (15/6), PUMA of Management Study Program, President University (PresUniv), held a Public Speaking Training 2021. This one-day training was aimed to improve the public speaking skills of PresUniv students. Here, students are given tips and tricks to speak in public correctly and more confidently. The Public Speaking Training 2021 presented two speakers: Randa Sandhita and Cristian Sabilal Pussung.

Randa Sandhita, the Founder & Executive Director at Katalisator Muda Indonesia, in her presentation, classified public speaking into three types, namely informative, persuasive, and entertainment. “After determining the type, the next step is to prepare what materials will be discussed. This is so that we do not stutter when we speak,” explained Randa. In addition, aspects of body language and word selection are also essential to be trained as support.

Another resource person, Cristian Sabilal Pussung, Founder of Brilliant English Course, also conveyed the same thing. According to her, before speaking in public, the speaker must first master the topic and understand the audience. For example, speaking in front of Jakarta people will undoubtedly be different from those from outside Jakarta. The speaker must adjust the words used so that the audience can fully understand them. Through this training, the speakers hope that their knowledge can be used advantageously in the future. (Steven Chaniago, PR team. Photo: Doc. PST 2021).
