What's happening in PresUniv
For two days, Thursday and Friday (April 8-9), seven national universities and four universities from Europe, which are members of the GITA consortium, held the GITA International Conference. GITA stands for Growth Indonesia - a Triangular Approach. President University (PresUniv) is one of the universities that are members of the consortium.
This international conference was held virtually entitled Embedding Entrepreneurship in the Indonesian Education System. The conference was attended by Prof. Neil Towers, GITA Project Leader, Prof. Dr. Jony Oktavian Haryanto (Rector of PresUniv), Dr. Ir. Arief Wismadi, MSc. (Director of Entrepreneurial Development, Universitas Islam Indonesia), Prof. drh. Aris Junaidi, Ph.D. (Director of Learning and Student Affairs, Directorate General of Higher Education, Ministry of Education and Culture), Prof. Dr. Ismunandar (Interim Deputy Minister for Research and Development and expert staff in the field of Sustainable Development, Ministry of Research and Technology / National Research and Innovation Agency), as well as Steven Gouw (CEO and Co-Founder of Nusatalent.com) and Tjahjadi Rahardja (President Director of PT Jababeka Infrastruktur).
In the conference, Prof. Towers revealed that Indonesia still needs to increase entrepreneurs' number. One of the places to produce new entrepreneurs is universities. Prof. Jony Haryanto also agreed. "In developed countries, many new businesses are born from the campus environment. Facebook, Yahoo! Inc., Google, FedEx are businesses born out of campus," he said. So, continued Prof. Jony, if we want to become a developed country like the US, UK, or Germany, Indonesia must turn its campuses into candradimuka craters to create new entrepreneurs. GITA International Conference 2021: Jadikan Kampus Pencetak Pengusaha-pengusaha Baru
Selama dua hari, Kamis dan Jumat (8-9 April), tujuh universitas nasional dan empat universitas dari Eropa, yang tergabung dalam konsorsium GITA menggelar GITA International Conference. GITA adalah singkatan dari Growth Indonesia - a Triangular Approach. President University (PresUniv) adalah salah satu kampus yang tergabung dalam konsorsium tersebut.
Konferensi internasional yang digelar secara virtual kali ini bertajuk Embedding Entrepreneurship in the Indonesian Education System. Konferensi dihadiri oleh Prof. Neil Towers, GITA Project Leader, Prof. Dr. Jony Oktavian Haryanto (Rektor PresUniv), Dr. Ir. Arief Wismadi, MSc. (Director of Entrepreneurial Development, Universitas Islam Indonesia), Prof. drh. Aris Junaidi, Ph.D. (Direktur Pembelajaran dan Kemahasiswaan, Direktorat Jenderal Pendidikan Tinggi, Kementerian Pendidikan dan Kebudayaan), Prof. Dr. Ismunandar (Pelaksana Tugas Deputi Penguatan Riset dan Pengembangan serta staf ahli bidang Pembangunan Berkelanjutan, Kementerian Riset dan Teknologi/Badan Riset dan Inovasi Nasional), serta Steven Gouw (CEO dan Co-Founder Nusatalent.com) dan Tjahjadi Rahardja (President Director PT Jababeka Infrastruktur).
Dalam konferensi tersebut, Prof. Towers mengungkapkan bahwa Indonesia masih perlu menambah jumlah entrepreneur. Salah satu tempat untuk mencetak pengusaha-pengusaha baru adalah perguruan tinggi. Prof. Jony Haryanto juga setuju. “Di negara-negara maju, banyak bisnis baru yang lahir dari lingkungan kampus. Facebook, Yahoo! Inc., Google, FedEx adalah bisnis-bisnis yang lahir dari kampus,” katanya. Maka, lanjut Prof. Jony, jika kita ingin menjadi negara maju seperti AS, Inggris, atau Jerman, Indonesia harus menjadikan kampus-kampusnya sebagai kawah candradimuka untuk mencetak lahirnya pengusaha-pengusaha baru.
