For students who enjoy the hustle of organizational activities and academic events as part of their university life, distance learning policy might not serve the best interest for them, and at some point, becomes a challenge. Nevertheless, it provides many opportunities for students to develop their skills and broaden their knowledge aside from what they have learned during class.
This effort then is supported by the university through a collaboration with Coursera so that lecturers and students may access more than 3800 online courses. Normally, students have to pay approximately US$45 to access a course at Coursera, but through the President University-Coursera, students can access this course for free.
One of the stories comes from a Law student at President University batch 2018, Angelia Dita Lestari. To maximize her study at home moment, she decided to broaden her knowledge by attending online courses at Coursera.
Currently, Angelia is taking the International Law of the Sea course. To extend her knowledge about that course, she took the Climate Change Health course offered by Yale University on Coursera. "I am very much delighted to study a course offered by a well-known university such as Yale University. The quality of the learning material is outstanding and ultimately added to my knowledge about climate change that I believe it affects human health as well as impact towards international law of the sea," she explained.
Angel stated that for this course, her lecturer accepts her certificate from Yale University as one of her final exams mark. This demonstrates full support from President University lecturers toward the students for them to broaden their knowledge by accessing independent learning resources of great quality. This effort is also supported by the university through a collaboration with Coursera so that lecturers and students may access thousands of courses for free. (SL/APW)
President University Bekerja Sama dengan Coursera: Mahasiswa Dapat Memperoleh Sertifikat dari Universitas Ternama Seperti Yale University dan Stanford University
Bagi mahasiswa yang biasa sibuk dengan segudang kegiatan organisasi dan perkuliahan, kebijakan belajar dari rumah tentu bukan hal yang mudah dilakukan. Meski begitu, belajar dari rumah ternyata telah memberikan banyak hal positif, salah satunya kesempatan bagi mahasiswa untuk mengasah skill dan pengetahuan di luar materi perkuliahan.
Hal in kemudian didukung oleh President University yang bekerjasama dengan Coursera sehingga dosen dan mahasiswa dapat mengakses lebih dari 3800 kelas online Coursera. Jika biasanya pengguna harus membayar sekitar US$45 untuk mengakses kelas online di Coursera, dengan adanya kolaborasi ini, dosen dan mahasiswa President University dapat mengaksesnya secara gratis.
Salah satu cerita datang dari mahasiswa Hukum President University angkatan 2018, Angelia Dita Lestari. Di tengah kepenatannya menjalani kegiatan perkuliahan online di rumah, ia memilih untuk menambah pengetahuannya dengan mengikuti kelas online di platform coursera.
Saat ini Angelia sedang mengambil mata kuliah Hukum Laut Internasional (International Law of The Sea). Untuk menambah pengetahuannya tentang mata kuliah tersebut, ia mengikuti kelas Climate Change Health yang dikeluarkan oleh Yale University. "Senang rasanya bisa mempelajari materi dari kampus ternama seperti Yale University. Kualitas materinya bagus dan menambah pengetahuan saya terkait mata kuliah yang saat ini saya ambil. Saya jadi tahu informasi detail mengenai perubahan iklim yang berpengaruh pada kesehatan manusia dan saya dapat mengaplikasikan efeknya kepada hukum laut internasional," ujarnya.
Angel mengungkapkan, untuk mata kuliah ini, dosen pengampu menerima sertifikat dari Yale University ini sebagai salah satu penilaian ujian akhirnya. Hal ini menunjukkan dukungan penuh dari dosen President University untuk mahasiswa secara aktif memperluas pengetahuannya dengan mengakses sumber-sumber belajar mandiri yang terjamin kualitasnya. Upaya ini juga didukung oleh universitas dengan bekerjasama dengan Coursera sehingga dosen dan mahasiswa dapat mengakses ribuan kelas secara gratis. (SL/APW)
