The Indonesian education academics and practitioners group who are members of the Ristekdikti Link held a Ristekdikti focus group discussion (FGD) last Saturday (19/10). With the theme “New Government: Urgent Agendas”, the FGD was held at the President Lounge, Menara Batavia where Jababeka alongside President University served as the host, represented by the Founder & CEO of PT. Jababeka Tbk. S.D. Darmono and the Rector of President University Prof. Dr. Jony Oktavian Haryanto.
In his welcoming remarks, the Chairperson of the President University Foundation Prof. Dr. Ir. Budi Susilo Soepandji said, “I thank you for your trust and this is an honor for the President University Foundation to host this event.”
The FGD was held as a forum for exchanging ideas and communication between academics from higher education institutions, industry players, and government pertaining to the advancement of Indonesia. The Special Advisor to the Minister of Research, Technology, and Higher Education Abdul Wahid Maktub as the initiator of the discussion group explained, “This group was formed to accommodate and build a communication forum so that diversity can become a strength. This communication will continue to be a collaboration that can solve a problem.”
Lasted for approximately two hours, official representatives from renowned higher education institutions conveyed their input for the improvement of the higher education sector in Indonesia. Besides them, S.D. Darmono representing industry practitioners expressed his opinion regarding the current condition of Indonesia. According to him, it is important to change the mindset of Indonesians. “Don’t be afraid of foreign investors because that thought will hamper economic growth. Besides increasing foreign investment, Indonesia needs to utilize assets that are still undeveloped. S.D. Darmono stated, considering the fact that there are many empty islands across Indonesia, action needs to be taken so that the economy will not only be concentrated in Java island but throughout Indonesia.
Furthermore, various experts from the government and the police of the Republic of Indonesia were also present to share their views on important matters that must be done by higher education institutions in order to create graduates who are competent and ready to compete.
Attended by various groups such as industry practitioners, academics, the government, and the police, Abdul Wahid Maktub expressed the possibility of changing the name of the discussion group along with the expansion of the topic of discussion within each meeting. “Initially, it was limited to research, technology, and higher education. But now, this group is open to anyone who shares a concern on nationalism,” he said.
Inviting interest from various stakeholders, Abdul Wahid Maktub stated that in the future, this FGD will be held routinely and discusses a wider range of topics for the advancement of Indonesia. (APW/SL)
Ristekdikti Link: Agenda-Agenda Mendesak di Pemerintahan Baru
Kelompok akademisi dan praktisi pendidikan Indonesia yang tergabung dalam Ristekdikti Link mengadakan forum focus group discussion (FGD) Ristekdikti (Riset, Teknologi, dan Pendidikan Tinggi) pada Sabtu lalu (19/10). Mengangkat tema “Pemerintahan Baru: Agenda-Agenda Urgent”, FGD ini dilaksanakan di President Lounge, Menara Batavia dengan Jababeka bersama President University sebagai tuan rumah. Sebagai tuan rumah, Pendiri & Komisaris PT. Jababeka Tbk S.D. Darmono serta Rektor President University Prof. Dr. Jony Oktavian Haryanto hadir dalam FGD ini.
Dalam sambutannya, Ketua Yayasan Universitas Presiden Prof. Dr. Ir. Budi Susilo Soepandji mengatakan, “Saya mengucapkan terima kasih atas kepercayaannya dan ini merupakan suatu kehormatan bagi Yayasan Universitas Presiden dapat menjadi tuan rumah.”
FGD ini diadakan sebagai wadah bertukar pikiran dan komunikasi antara para akademisi dari perguruan tinggi, pelaku industri, dan pemerintahan terkait kemajuan Indonesia. Staf Khusus Menteri Ristekdikti Abdul Wahid Maktub sebagai inisiator kelompok diskusi ini memaparkan, “Kelompok ini dibentuk untuk mengakomodir dan membangun forum komunikasi supaya keragaman itu bisa menjadi suatu kekuatan. Komunikasi ini yang nanti akan berlanjut menjadi kolaborasi yang dapat memecahkan suatu persoalan.”
Berlangsung selama kurang lebih dua jam, berbagai perwakilan dari perguruan tinggi ternama menyampaikan masukannya bagi kemajuan pendidikan perguruan tinggi di Indonesia. Selain universitas, S.D. Darmono mewakili praktisi industri menyampaikan pendapatnya terkait kondisi Indonesia saat ini. Menurutnya, penting untuk mengubah cara berpikir masyarakat Indonesia. “Jangan takut dengan investor asing karena pemikiran itu akan menghambat pertumbuhan ekonomi,” ujarnya. Selain meningkatkan investasi asing, Indonesia perlu memanfaatkan aset-aset yang masih ‘nganggur’. S. D. Darmono mengungkapkan, menanggapi fakta bahwa masih banyak pulau yang kosong, tindakan perlu diambil sehingga ekonomi tidak hanya terpusat di Jawa tapi di seluruh Indonesia.
Selanjutnya, turut hadir berbagai pakar dari pemerintahan serta kepolisian Republik Indonesia untuk menyampaikan pandangan-pandangan mereka mengenai hal-hal penting yang harus dilakukan universitas agar dapat menghasilkan lulusan-lulusan yang kompeten dan siap bersaing.
Dihadiri oleh berbagai kalangan seperti praktisi industri, akademisi, pemerintah, serta kepolisian, Abdul Wahid Maktub mengungkapkan kemungkinan pergantian nama kelompok diskusi ini seiring dengan meluasnya topik diskusi di setiap pertemuannya. “Awalnya memang terbatas hanya di riset, teknologi, pendidikan, dan perguruan tinggi. Tapi sekarang kelompok ini terbuka bagi siapa saja yang punya concern di masalah kebangsaan,” ujarnya.
Mengundang ketertarikan dari berbagai pihak, Abdul Wahid Maktub menyatakan bahwa ke depannya, FGD ini akan dilaksanakan secara rutin dan membahas berbagai topik yang lebih luas lagi untuk kemajuan Bangsa Indonesia. (SL/APW)
