On Wednesday, March 6, 2024, Law Study Program President University (Presuniv) organized a Guest Lecture with Prof. Dr. Ariawan Gunadi, SH, MH, a board member of one of the private universities. The theme chosen for this guest lecture was "International Trade Law in the Era of Trade Liberalization: Past, Present, and Future." The event was attended by Handa S. Abidin, SH, L.LM, Ph.D, as the Rector of Presuniv, Bayu Imantoro, SH, MH, Legal Director of Presuniv, and Dr. Ir. Robert Pangihutan Radjagoekgoek, S.Sos, SH, MH, CLI, CLA, Head of the Law Program. The guest lecture was moderated by Regina Cyrilla Chandra, a student of International Law, from the Faculty of Humanities, Presuniv.

During his lecture, Ariawan stated, "If in the past wars were fought with weapons, now they are not. They create groups and unions." He explained that many conflicts now occur through groups and collaborations formed by a country. This can be seen from the numerous international organizations with similar functions but different members, such as the OECD and BRICS. This often affects the global market conditions and Indonesia.

Not only inter-country coalitions, but also the issue of cheaper imported goods compared to domestic products, or dumping, this is a problem for the Indonesian economy. Many countries provide subsidies which means that their goods can be sold in Indonesia at lower prices than domestically produced goods. "We need to take several measures to ensure that local products do not lose out to imported products. One of them is through anti-subsidy laws," Ariawan explained. (Graciella V., PR team.
