Saturday (18/9), the Granazia President University (PresUniv) team became the first winner in the National CAD design competition, Otodesign 2021. The Granazia team consisted of Alvin Putra Wardan, Fatur Abdigama, and Ichsan Nur Rizky. All of them are students of the Mechanical Engineering Study Program, PresUniv, batch 2019. Otodesign is one of a series of activities in the Sinergi Energi dan Otomotif 2021  event organized by the Politeknik Negeri Jember. This National CAD design competition has the theme “Low-Cost Electric Value.”

In the competition selection process, participants must submit their design work in 3D and 2D Engineering Drawing formats and write an essay to explain their design. Only five teams can qualify for the final round. In the final round, the participants were allowed to present their work in front of the judges. The Granazia team made a design with a conventional car concept with a capacity of two people. This car has a maximum speed of 24 km / h using fiberglass as the base material.

Fatur said a car with a fiberglass body would be lighter than other conventional cars that use steel. "We also design cars using fiberglass because they are affordable, easy to make in-house, and do not require many production costs, thus achieving our goal in the competition, namely cheap electric cars," he explained. Fatur said that this competition is an event to see and compare the manufacture of electric cars in other campuses to gain new knowledge to support their electric car manufacturing activities.
