In 2021, there were  6.5 million crypto asset investors in Indonesia. However, according to the Badan Pengawasan Perdagangan Berjangka Komoditi (Bappebti), up to  April 2022 the number of crypto asset investors has increased by more than 90% to 12.4 million. Bappepti estimates that by 2025 there will be 25 million crypto asset investors in Indonesia. This was stated by Afid Sugiono, founder of Crypto Assets and a Trader at Tokocrypto in the recent webinar organized by President University (PresUniv) entitled “Investment for Millennials through Cryptocurrency”, Saturday (11/6).

Afid said that the level of public education about crypto is still low. "People easily believe in fraud with ponzi schemes that promise very high profits," he said. He explained, crypto assets are digital representations of value that can be digitally traded or transferred and can be used for payment or investment purposes. These crypto assets have several risks, such as market price fluctuations and less liquid investors will find it difficult to sell these assets.

Then, how to mitigate the risk of crypto assets? According to Afid, diversification is the key to any investment strategy. That also applies when investing in crypto assets. He reminded that the crypto asset market is fluctuating, so investors must be prepared to face irregular prices. "Make sure to use cold money," he insisted. For places to buy and sell crypto assets, said Afid, it is mandatory to choose a place that is guaranteed, safe, and reliable. (Gilang Suryanata, PR team. Photo: Gilang)
