Sunday, 14 December 2025—President University’s 21st Graduation Ceremony was also marked by a message from Jeffrey Labovitz, United Nations Migration Chief of Mission to Indonesia, who shared reflections on learning, empathy, and personal integrity with the graduates.
In his address, Labovitz emphasized the importance of learning from every encounter with people from diverse backgrounds, a principle he said he consistently applies whenever meeting new individuals. He noted that every interaction holds the potential for insight, regardless of setting or status. “We learn from everyone we meet. Wherever we are and whoever we are with, there is always something to learn if we are willing to listen,” he said.
He further reflected on the meaning of helping others, observing that personal growth comes not from acting out of self-interest, but from a sincere desire to support others. According to him, a sense of self-worth is often formed through acts of giving. “There is no reason to be good. Just be good,” he concluded.
