November 15, 2025

Thursday, 30 October 2025—The Faculty of Social Sciences and Education, President University, held a seminar titled “How to Practice Strategy and Skills for Writing a High-Quality and Concise Essay” in the Theatre Room of the President University Convention Center (PUCC), Jababeka City. The session featured Taufiq Rahman, Editor-in-Chief of The Jakarta Post, who shared practical insights on developing strong writing skills.

Taufiq highlighted the growing concern that overreliance on AI tools may weaken students’ critical thinking abilities. “The more students use ChatGPT, the less critical thinking they have. It is scraping the one thing that built civilization,” he remarked.

Every great civilization is built on the foundation of critical thinking and a strong tradition of writing. The tradition of writing, he noted, preserves historical timelines and prevents humanity’s stories from being forgotten. “Writing allows the transfer of knowledge from one generation to another,” Taufiq said, adding, “If you write your experiences, perhaps your writing can become the first draft of history.” (Graciella V, PR Team.
