January 07, 2026

Wednesday, 10 December 2025โ€”President University students from the World War class held World War Week 2025 at the Movieland Campus from 10 to 12 December 2025. Conducted under the direct supervision of Dr. Jeanne Francoise, an International Relations lecturer at President University, the event commemorated the 80th anniversary of the end of World War II while encouraging students to deepen their understanding of global history and its relevance to the present.

Organized entirely by students, World War Week 2025 featured a series of interactive and educational activities, including games, showcases, a historical monologue competition, and a seminar. These activities were designed to make historical reflection engaging while fostering critical awareness of the consequences of war.

During the seminar session, Muhammad Farid, S.S., M.PA., an IR lecturer at President University, emphasized that war, despite being one of the most painful forces in human history, often feels distant to younger generations who have never experienced it directly. He noted that modern perceptions of war are frequently shaped by films, games, and social media, which can reduce it to entertainment or headlines, obscuring the real suffering, trauma, and destruction it causes.

Meanwhile, Agung Permadi, S.IP., M.Si., Head of the International Relations Laboratory and lecturer at Universitas Budi Luhur, highlighted the importance of studying war history to strengthen critical thinking, deepen empathy, and build peace literacyโ€”the ability to understand conflict and contribute to its prevention.

The seminar was officially opened by Dr. Jeanne Francoise and Dr. Agus Haryanto, Head of the Association of International Relations of Indonesia. The session was also attended by students from Universitas Budi Luhur, reflecting inter-university engagement in promoting historical awareness and peace-oriented discussions.
