On 11 September 2025, President University hosted His Excellency Mpetjane Kgaogelo Lekgoro, Ambassador of the Republic of South Africa to Indonesia, Timor-Leste and ASEAN, for a public lecture at the Charles Himawan Auditorium. Ambassador Lekgoro opened by situating bilateral relations in historical perspective, recalling the post-colonial paths that shaped both nations and led to formal diplomatic ties. He emphasized how the establishment of an embassy in Jakarta and sustained dialogue have created a foundation for cooperation across trade, agriculture, education and cultural exchange.
Framing bilateral ties within the broader multilateral agenda, the ambassador addressed South Africa’s priorities under its G20 presidency and the importance of coordinated policy on trade, energy, climate and debt relief. He argued that the G20’s focus on solidarity, equality and sustainability must translate into concrete measures that foster inclusive growth and job creation.
Through this lecture, President University reaffirmed its commitment to providing students with exposure to international perspectives and real-world global issues. By bringing diplomats, policymakers, and experts directly to campus, the university ensures that its students gain valuable insights beyond the classroom, preparing them to become globally minded leaders. This commitment reflects President University’s mission to create a learning environment that nurtures academic excellence, critical thinking, and active engagement with the world.
