Seminar on Virtual Reality Welding Technology at President University
April 25, 2025

The Mechanical Engineering Study Program of President University (ME PU) in collaboration with PT. Yontomo Sukses Abadi and Lincoln Electric held a special seminar at the PUCC on April, 25th 2025. The event, open to all President University students and faculty members, attracted a large audience, especially engineering students eager to learn more about welding technologies that align with their academic and career interests.

The seminar featured two sessions. The first session, led by Andi Putra from Lincoln Electric, was titled “Education Solutions: Accelerate Your Welding Training Success.” He explained modern welding technologies, training methods, potential hazards, the introduction of welding equipment, and the significant advantages of using Virtual Reality (VR) welding simulators — highlighting both the technical and economic benefits. In the second session, Ronny Juwono, Head of the Information Systems Study Program, discussed the differences between Virtual Reality (VR) and Augmented Reality (AR), and how VR technology is being applied in various engineering projects, including disaster protection simulations, fire extinguisher usage training, and game development projects in collaboration with industries.

Through this event, President University provided students with valuable exposure to cutting-edge industrial technologies, helping them enhance their technical knowledge and better prepare for future professional opportunities. (Rachel V, PR Team. Photo: Roffizul H)
