Monday, 10 March 2026—President University continued its engagement at the Forum Silaturahmi Ramadan Bersama Insan Media, held at Gedung Dewan Pers, Jl. Kebon Sirih, Jakarta. The session featured insights from Prof. Dr. Komaruddin Hidayat, Chairperson of the Press Council, as the main speaker.
In his remarks, Prof. Komaruddin highlighted the urgency of addressing domestic economic challenges. He stated, “Our domestic economic conditions need greater attention. Even without a crisis, it is already difficult. Now it has become even more challenging,” pointing to the increasing pressure felt across society.
He emphasized that both the press and academic institutions share a responsibility in responding to these issues. “This is the task of the press and universities. We need to support one another in finding solutions,” he noted, calling for stronger collaboration between the two sectors.
Prof. Komaruddin underscored the evolving role of the press in today’s media landscape. He warned against the tendency to amplify negativity for attention, stating that criticism and harsh comments are often easily sensationalized. However, he stressed that the role of the press goes beyond chasing followers, emphasizing that it must contribute meaningful ideas and constructive discourse to society.
