Thursday, 3 September 2026 — President University welcomed Ambassador M.I. Derry Aman, Permanent Representative of the Republic of Indonesia to ASEAN, as a speaker on the first day of PREUNI 2026 at the President University Convention Center (PUCC), Jababeka City. He encouraged new students to understand the importance of ASEAN and its role in maintaining peace and stability in Southeast Asia.
Derry explained that regional stability provides a foundation for growth and development, allowing countries and their people to move forward without the disruption of conflict and war. He also emphasized that ASEAN’s cooperation is ultimately directed toward people’s needs and extends beyond the fields of international relations and law, touching various aspects of everyday life.
“How can we progress if our region is not stable, if we have conflict, if we have war?” Derry said. He encouraged students to remain curious, continue learning, and build connections that allow them to contribute individually and collectively, while understanding how regional cooperation can affect the communities around them.
Derry also urged students to make the most of their university years and look ahead to the person they want to become by graduation. He encouraged them to continue exploring and learning so that they leave university more mature, confident, and knowledgeable, with the ability to contribute to society and the region.
