President University Presents Global Insight on Indonesia–Peru Diplomacy
September 25, 2025

President University once again held its signature event, the Ambassador Lecture, on Thursday, July 24th, 2025, featuring H.E. Luis Raúl Tsuboyama Galván, Ambassador of Peru to the Republic of Indonesia, as the keynote speaker. The event took place at FabLab PUCC and gathered students from various majors, particularly those from the International Relations study program. The main objective of this event was to provide students with a comprehensive understanding of the development, scope, and direction of diplomatic relations between Indonesia and Peru, as well as the strategic benefits both countries gain through bilateral and multilateral cooperations.

During his presentation, Ambassador Tsuboyama Galván explained that diplomatic relations between Indonesia and Peru, established on August 12th, 1975, have continued to develop progressively. The two nations share a common vision in promoting multilateralism, particularly as fellow members of the Non-Aligned Movement. Their collaboration has been further strengthened through active participation in various international organizations such as the United Nations, WTO, APEC, and ASEAN. Since 2024, Peru has also held the status of ASEAN Development Partner, paving the way for regional cooperation between ASEAN and the Pacific Alliance, including through business forums like INA–LAC, which enhance economic ties between Southeast Asia and Latin America.

Furthermore, the seminar highlighted several concrete initiatives, such as the planned signing of the Indonesia-Peru Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA) in August 2025. This agreement is expected to double the trade volume and broaden cooperation in key sectors such as defense, narcotics control, agriculture, fisheries, and culture. Through an interactive Q&A session, students were encouraged to understand the importance of modern diplomacy in strengthening interregional connectivity to achieve inclusive global growth and stability. In this context, President University reaffirmed its commitment to serving as a hub for international learning, encouraging students to think critically, engage with global issues, and build cross-border networks through academic forums that reflect today’s dynamic international landscape.
