Tuesday, 14 January 2026—The Nonton Bareng of the Annual Press Statement of the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Indonesia (PPTM RI) 2026 at President University highlighted Indonesia’s foreign policy direction amid growing global uncertainty, as conveyed by Minister of Foreign Affairs Sugiono.
In his address, Minister Sugiono emphasized strong national resilience as the main foundation of Indonesia’s foreign policy, reaffirming the principle emphasized by President Prabowo Subianto that foreign policy begins at home and must originate from the needs of the people and national interests.
He assessed that the current global order is facing serious challenges, with international law often misused and global governance structures increasingly struggling to function. “When jointly agreed rules are violated without consequences, what collapses is not only one rule, but trust in the entire order itself,” he stated.
Minister Sugiono further stressed that survival requires strong national resilience and the capacity to determine Indonesia’s own direction. He concluded by introducing the concept of diplomacy of resilience, built not through displays of power, but through certainty, prevention, and the opening of spaces for dialogue.
