On Tuesday, February 18, 2025, President University (Presuniv) held a guest lecture titled “Japan-Indonesia New Partnership”, featuring Masaki Yasushi, the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Japan to Indonesia, as the keynote speaker. The lecture took place at the Fabrication Laboratory, President University Convention Center (PUCC), Jl. H. Usmar Ismail, Kota Jababeka, Cikarang, and was moderated by Utako Sato, a master’s student in the Law program (class of 2024), and Ibnu Hadi, M.Ec., former Indonesian Ambassador to Vietnam and Advisor to the Rector of Presuniv.

In his opening remarks, Prof. Dr. Ir. Budi Susilo Soepandji, DEA, Chairman of the Board of Trustees of President University Foundation, highlighted the recent visit of Japanese Prime Minister Shigeru Ishiba to Indonesia. “One of the key objectives of Prime Minister Ishiba’s visit was to strengthen Japan-Indonesia relations. As an institution, President University is ready to contribute to the enhancement of bilateral ties between the two nations,” stated Prof. Budi.

During his lecture, Ambassador Yasushi emphasized the current inefficacy of international organizations in resolving global conflicts, citing the prolonged Russia-Ukraine and Israel-Palestine conflicts as examples. “If we cannot rely on international organizations, we must build our communities. Cooperation between allies and like-minded nations is becoming increasingly crucial. This is why Japan will continue to strengthen its partnership with Indonesia,” Yasushi explained.
