President University Hosts Guest Lecture with Dr. Abdul Chair Ramadhan, Chairman of the Judicial Commission of the Republic of Indonesia, on the Judicial Commission’s Role in Strengthening Judicial Power

Thursday, 23 April 2026 —  President University hosted a guest lecture titled The Judicial Commission as a Complement to Judicial Power at the Charles Himawan Auditorium, 4th Floor, Building A, President University Main Campus. The session featured Dr. Abdul Chair Ramadhan, S.H., M.H., Chairman of the Judicial Commission of the Republic of Indonesia, who shared insights on the importance of ethics, oversight, and independence within the judicial system.

During the lecture, Dr. Abdul Chair Ramadhan emphasized that while the Judicial Commission does not exercise judicial power directly, its supervisory role is essential in ensuring the proper functioning of the judiciary. He explained that effective oversight is a key element in realizing a fair and just legal system.

Drawing connections to the values of Pancasila, he highlighted the importance of humanity, deliberation, and social justice as the foundations of a civilized society. He noted that ethics plays a central role in shaping human behavior, influencing the way individuals think, act, and make decisions based on their conscience.

He also discussed the challenges of maintaining judicial independence, emphasizing the importance of impartiality, professionalism, and ethical conduct. “The greatest challenge in maintaining judicial independence is remaining impartial and free from external influence,” he said. He added that strong ethics and integrity are essential to preserving public trust in the legal system.
