President University Hosts Ambassador Lecture Series on Indonesia-Kenya Relations
April 25, 2025

President University warmly welcomed H.E. Galma Mukhe Boru, Ambassador of Kenya to Indonesia, and Mr. Jackson Nyagaka Onkoba, Deputy Ambassador of Kenya to Indonesia, as part of its Ambassador Lecture Series. The event, held at PUCC Fablab on April 25th, 2025, was officially opened by the Rector of President University, Dr. Handa Abidin, who expressed hope that the guest lecture would provide valuable insights for all participants.

During the lecture, Ambassador Galma Boru highlighted the historical ties between Indonesia and Kenya, beginning with the Asia-Africa Conference in 1955 in Bandung, which marked the start of their fraternal relationship. He spoke about the shared struggles for independence faced by both nations and emphasized that the spirit of partnership is rooted in mutual respect and a shared purpose. The Ambassador also noted that Indonesia and Kenya officially established diplomatic relations in 1979, followed by the opening of the Indonesian Embassy in Kenya in 1982.

Furthermore, the Ambassador elaborated on the current focus of diplomatic cooperation, particularly in areas such as education, trade, energy, minerals, and mining. Looking to the future, he emphasized the importance of multilateral cooperation, with Indonesia and Kenya aiming to strengthen the Non-Aligned Movement through an active non-alignment approach. This strategy involves hedging in international relations rather than aligning strictly with any major powers, ensuring more balanced and independent foreign policies for both nations.
