Wednesday, 17 June 2026 — President University hosted an International Seminar titled "The Tension Between Globalization and Human Rights" at the Theater, President University Convention Center (PUCC), President University Main Campus, Jababeka City. The seminar featured Hans Noot, Associate Director of Human Rights Without Frontiers and President of the Dutch Gerard Noodt Foundation for Freedom of Religion or Belief, who explored the complex relationship between globalization, culture, and human rights.

Hans explained that every individual is shaped by the cultural values and social environment in which they are raised. While globalization has increased interactions among societies, he emphasized that understanding different cultural backgrounds remains essential in promoting and protecting human rights across diverse communities.

“If I were born and raised in Indonesia, I would have the language and value system of Indonesia. I wear suits because it is part of my culture,” he said. Hans also emphasized that the influence of both religious and non-religious institutions on the development of human rights standards in the era of globalization should not be underestimated. His presentation highlighted how these institutions continue to shape global discourse on human rights, making them an indispensable part of conversations surrounding globalization and international cooperation.
