September 26, 2024

On Thursday, September 26, 2024, President University (Presuniv) held a seminar themed “Working at Chinese Foreign Investment firm: Myths and Facts.” The seminar, formatted as a talk show, took place in the Auditorium on the 5th floor of Building A, Presuniv Campus, Jl. Ki Hajar Dewantara, Jababeka, Cikarang. The speakers at the talk show were Adrian Kusuma Rahardjo, Training Manager at PT Huawei Tech Investment, and Evanco Holis Pardamean Simangunsong, Sales Representative at PT Yuto Packaging Technology Indonesia.

During the talk show, both Adrian and Evanco shared their personal experiences working at a Chinese Foreign Investment firm. Adrian mentioned that working or interning at a Chinese Foreign Investment firm is not as intimidating as many people think. “There are actually many benefits to be gained when interning or working at a Chinese Foreign Investment firrm. For example, interns not only gain real work experience but also receive decent compensation,” Adrian explained.

Additionally, Evanco added, “If you work at a Chinese Foreign Investment firm, during lunch breaks, we have the opportunity to take a nap.” He noted that lunch breaks at Chinese Foreign Investment firm can last up to 1.5 hours. “So, we spend 30 minutes for lunch, and the remaining hour can be used for a nap. It’s pretty good,” said Evanco, who was affirmed by Adrian.

According to both, the habit of napping during the day in Chinese Foreign Investment firm stems from the education system implemented there. “Students are given the chance to take a one-hour nap during the day. After the nap, they are expected to feel refreshed when continuing their studies,” shared Evanco, who is also an alumnus of Presuniv.

During the Q&A session, several students posed questions, one of which was, “How do you handle pressure while working?” Both Adrian and Evanco agreed that pressure in the workplace is a common occurrence. “It happens everywhere. Even during college, we face pressure,” Evanco said.

For tips on coping with it, Adrian advised that when work pressure arises, especially from superiors, it’s important to listen to their guidance. “Don’t let work pressure stress you out. When the pressure is so high that you consider resigning, remember your purpose for working. And remember that pressure exists everywhere, not just at Chinese Foreign Investment firm,” Adrian elaborated. (Faisal Rabbani, PR team. Photo: Faisal Rabbani.)
