President University (Presuniv) hosted a seminar titled Idea to Impact: The Journey of Product Innovation on Friday, December 6, 2024. The event took place at the Charles Himawan Auditorium, 5th floor of Building A, Presuniv Campus, Jl. Ki Hajar Dewantara, Kota Jababeka, Cikarang. Alamanda Shantika, founder of BINAR Academy, was the keynote speaker.

In his opening remarks, Presuniv Rector Handa S. Abidin, SH, LL.M., Ph.D., emphasized the importance of innovation for all students. “Innovation that is not confined to a single field is something everyone can and should strive for,” he stated.

During the seminar, Alamanda shared her experiences as the former Vice President of Product at Gojek and the founder of the BINAR Academy, a platform focused on developing digital skills. “Innovation is not just about creating something new but about solving real societal problems,” she explained. Alamanda also offered practical advice on transforming ideas into actionable and marketable solutions, stressing the importance of leadership skills and the courage to face failures.

On implementing and commercializing innovation, Alamanda elaborated, “First, determine whether you want to be an entrepreneur or an employee, as innovation implementation often ties closely to entrepreneurship.” She encouraged participants to prepare for challenges, such as failures or tough decision-making, including laying off employees or making critical calls. “Strong leadership skills are crucial to guide your business.
