President University Holds Seminar and Discussion on Defense Heritage Literature

Thursday, 26 February 2026 — President University organized a Seminar & Discussion of The Defense Heritage Newest Book under the theme “Unpacking Defense Heritage Through Literature.” The forum was held as a platform to explore the content of “Thoughts on Defense Heritage”, collaboratively written by more than 20 contributors and edited by Maghdalena, Acep Usman, M.Anim.Sc., Jeany Monica, and Yuslan Samad Lasia, with Jeanne Francoise, a lecturer from the International Relations Study Program at President University, serving as the main editor.

The event also marked a significant milestone, celebrating the fifth anniversary of Dr. Jeanne Francoise as the first female doctoral graduate from Indonesian Defense University. The gathering brought together academics and practitioners to discuss the role of literature in understanding defense heritage.

The session was officially opened by Muhammad Sigit Andhi Rahman, Ph.D., Head of the International Relations Study Program at President University, along with Ir. Petrus Gunarso, M.Sc., Ph.D., Advisor and Director of Institutional Cooperation at Lembaga Literasi Dayak; Dr. Masri Sareb Putra, M.A., CEO of Lembaga Literasi Dayak; and Mering Alexander, representing media relations of the same institution.

The discussion was moderated by Muhammad Farid, S.S., M.PA., a lecturer from the International Relations Study Program at President University. The panel featured distinguished speakers including Dr. Wuri Handoko, a Senior Researcher in Historical Archaeology at National Research and Innovation Agency; Dr. Saparudin Barus, S.T., M.M., Acting Head of the Museum, Monument, and Library Division at the Indonesian Army History Center and lecturer at the Military History Study Program of Indonesian Defense University; and Ridwan, Ph.D., lecturer at Indonesian International Islamic University.

Before iftar time, M. Raudy Gathmyr, S.Sos., M.Si., Head of the Communication Study Program at President University, delivered a short religious talk. The event then continued with a communal iftar, where all participants gathered together, fostering a sense of togetherness and reflection alongside the academic discussion.
