Thursday, 4 December 2025—President University hosted a session of the President University Ambassador Lecture (PUAL) at the Theatre Room, President University Convention Center (PUCC), Jl. H. Usmar Ismail, Jababeka City. The lecture, titled “Diplomacy in International Law,” featured Syahda Guruh Langkah Samudera, Ambassador Designate of the Republic of Indonesia to the State of Qatar, who discussed how international law continues to shape state behavior and global diplomacy.
In his lecture, Syahda emphasized that international law remains a key framework in defining the legitimacy of state actions, even when violations occur. He explained that the presence of international law influences how states and other actors behave on the global stage, reinforcing norms and accountability beyond mere political interests.
He also highlighted the evolving nature of global power, noting that influence today no longer relies solely on military strength. “If you have knowledge and technology to control algorithms, you have power. If you can control satellites, you have power,” he stated, underscoring how technological advancement and information control have become decisive variables in modern diplomacy.
