President University held a book review on Trilogi Kartini at the Auditorium, 5th floor of Building A, President University Main Campus. Held on 18 September 2025, the event featured Prof. Dr. Ing. Wardiman Djojonegoro, Minister of Education and Culture (1993–1998), Chairman of the Puteri Indonesia Foundation, and writer of Trilogi Kartini, along with Siti Maimunah, Director of Mama Aleta Fund, serving as the reviewer.
Kartini is known as Indonesia’s female emancipation hero who fought for women’s right to education during a time when women were not even expected to leave their homes. In honoring her legacy, we commemorate and celebrate her every 21st of April, the day she was born.
Prof. Wardiman explained the process and inspiration behind Trilogi Kartini. After reading the book Habis Gelap Terbitlah Terang, he was deeply moved by Kartini’s determination. “There was a woman who wanted to fight for the rights of Indonesian women,” he said. He then collected Kartini’s manuscripts, translated them into Indonesian, typed them, and compiled them into one book before deciding to write her biography.
Reviewer Siti Maimunah emphasized the relevance of Kartini’s letters in reflecting social and political conditions of the past. “Kartini’s letters describe what colonialism looked like at the time, which she explained as the exploitation of natural resources and human beings,” she said.
