Thursday, 18 June 2026 — President University welcomed Dr. (H.C.) Gunawan Tjokro, M.B.A., President Commissioner of PT Gunanusa Eramandiri Tbk. (GUNA) and Commissioner of PT Dynaplast, as the speaker for a President University Guest Lecture titled "Upholding as the Foundation for Achieving Success," held at the Fabrication Lab (FabLab), President University Main Campus, Jababeka City. The session brought together students and members of the academic community to discuss the essential values needed to become resilient and ethical future leaders.
During the lecture, Dr. Gunawan emphasized that leadership is built not only through knowledge and technical skills but also through strong character and unwavering values. He encouraged students to remain adaptable in the face of rapid change while continuing to uphold timeless principles such as discipline, hard work, lifelong learning, and respect for seniors and mentors. According to him, these values provide a strong foundation for long-term personal and professional success.
"Future leaders are those who can adapt to change while still upholding noble values. Success requires perseverance and a resilient mindset. You must always be willing to embrace change, innovate, and step outside your comfort zone. Sailing school will not teach you how to calm the waves. It teaches you what to do when large waves hit your boat," he said.
Through the guest lecture, students were encouraged to view challenges not as obstacles but as opportunities to grow. Dr. Gunawan concluded that resilience, integrity, and the willingness to keep learning are qualities that enable future leaders to navigate uncertainty while making meaningful contributions to society and their organizations.
