On Thursday, February 13, 2025, President University (Presuniv) hosted another session in their Ambassador Lecture Series, featuring Roberto Sarmento de Oliveira Soares, Ambassador of Timor-Leste to Indonesia. The guest lecture was held at the Charles Himawan Auditorium, 5th Floor, Building A, Presuniv Campus, Jl. Ki Hajar Dewantara, Kota Jababeka, Cikarang, and was attended by Presuniv students, including those from Timor-Leste currently studying at the university.
In his opening remarks, Handa S. Abidin, SH, LL.M., Ph.D., Rector of Presuniv, emphasized Presuniv’s commitment to strengthening Indonesia-Timor-Leste relations. “At Presuniv, we have many students from Timor-Leste. Over the past eight years, I have taught them and witnessed many of them achieve success. I hope they can serve as a bridge to further strengthen the relationship between our two nations,” he stated.
Ambassador Soares expressed his gratitude to Presuniv for welcoming and educating students from Timor-Leste. “I hope they will become future leaders of Timor-Leste,” he said. He then elaborated on Timor-Leste’s journey to independence and its current development. Addressing international relations, he emphasized Timor-Leste’s free and active foreign policy stance while acknowledging the challenges all nations face. “Every country, even the biggest ones, faces challenges.
