Music as an Emotional Recording Teddy Adithya Brings Sincerity into Every Song
July 07, 2025

On a night filled with inspiration, President University once again held its signature event, PULU (President University Lyrics Unplugged), at Theater Room 1. Taking place on July 7th, 2025, the spotlight was on Teddy Adithya, a singer from Ambon who is also a talented graphic designer. In his heartfelt performance, Teddy invited the audience to explore the emotional depths behind his songs, such as Langit Favoritku and Kembalikanku, both deeply rooted in his personal experiences and emotional journey.

Teddy began his musical journey in 2008, when he was asked to sing at a family gathering. But it was between 2008 and 2010 that he decided to pursue music seriously, committing fully with the mindset that a career in music cannot have a second option. Determined to release his debut solo album by the age of 25, Teddy spent every day in the studio writing and recording, eventually releasing his first album in 2014. His creative process is unique, he starts by analyzing emotions through daily exercises and treats life experiences as the most authentic "recordings" for creating honest and resonant music.

The story behind Langit Favoritku, for instance, was inspired by a difficult emotional period during the pandemic, when his team was disbanded, his relationship fell apart, and his family couldn’t fully understand what he was going through. Meanwhile, Kembalikanku expresses longing for simple yet meaningful things, like a handshake, a warm hug, and heartfelt conversations at the family dinner table. More than just a musician, Teddy sees himself as three people in one: Teddy the artist, Adit the graphic designer, and Tya the support system, a reflection of the rich and multifaceted identity that fuels his creativity.
