Wednesday, 2 April 2026—President University held a session of the President University United Nations (PUUN) Series titled “The Role of the UN Resident Coordinator in Indonesia's Growth” at the Charles Himawan Auditorium, 4th floor, Building A, President University Main Campus, Jababeka City.
During the session, Matthew Johnson-Idan, Head of the UN Resident Coordinator Office, shared insights on the United Nations’ growing role in supporting Indonesia’s development. He highlighted that the UN has reached 189 districts across the country, with more than 200 staff embedded within local governments to strengthen implementation and coordination.
He emphasized the importance of collaboration, stating, “All of these results are possible through various partnerships with government, the private sector, academia, and other stakeholders. Partnerships are not only about collaboration, but also about reaching different parts of society.”
Looking ahead, he noted that the UN aims to expand its influence over the next five years. However, he also pointed out a key challenge: expectations of what the UN can deliver continue to rise, while available resources and budgets are decreasing, creating growing questions and doubts about its capacity to deliver impact.
