Tuesday, 10 February 2026— President University organized a public lecture at the Charles Himawan Auditorium, President University Campus, titled “Accounting Policy and Judgment in Public Accounting Offices and Corporations Related to Economic Development for the Year 2026–2030.” The session was delivered by Josep Ginting, Ph.D., CFA, Accounting Lecturer at President University, and examined the role of accounting policy and professional judgment in supporting sustainable economic development.
In his presentation, Josep stated that discussions on accounting practices should begin with ethical considerations alongside regulatory compliance. He emphasized that professional integrity forms the foundation of sound financial reporting and decision-making. He noted that while laws and regulations provide formal structure and guidance, they are developed within broader economic contexts that may involve varying interests and objectives.
He further observed that Indonesia has an extensive regulatory framework governing corporate and financial activities. However, the effectiveness of these regulations depends significantly on ethical implementation. “We have many regulations. Most things in Indonesia are strictly regulated. Why is the number of corruption still high? It is exactly because of that. Ethics,” he stated, highlighting that adherence to ethical standards is essential to ensure that regulations function as intended.
