On June 15th, 2025, President University in Cikarang proudly hosted the soft launching of Global Lounge Sahabat—an inspiring space designed to foster international friendship and entrepreneurial collaboration, particularly between Indonesia and Korea. Tghe day began with a lively Taekwondo performance by the President University squad, followed by an official ribbon-cutting ceremony that signified the lounge’s opening. Prof. Ki-Chan Kim, International Chancellor of President University, delivered the keynote address, emphasizing the lounge’s role in leading global academic innovation in entrepreneurship.
A series of heartfelt congratulatory remarks followed, featuring prominent figures such as S.D. Darmono (Founder of President University), Dr. Gatot from the Ministry of Education, Dr. I Wayan Dipta (Former Vice Minister of Cooperatives and SMEs), Mr. Jong-Heon Kim (President of the Korean Association in Indonesia), and Mr. Lee Jang-Hee from KOTRA Jakarta. These remarks reflected the strong ties and shared vision between Indonesian and Korean institutions in nurturing the next generation of global entrepreneurs. The lounge, supported by founders Prof. Ki-Chan Kim, Dae Kil Chun, and Kong Jeong Ho, is managed by Ms. Eun La Lee and described as a place “where friendship rises like warm bread, coffee fuels new beginnings, and every visit makes you feel like you belong.”
The event also featured a scholarship award ceremony, where IDR10,000,000 was granted to the President University Taekwondo squad by the Humane K-Entrepreneurship Center and K-Brand, and an additional IDR10,000,000 Sahabat Student Scholarship was awarded to support academic excellence. A donation ceremony followed, during which Mr. Harry Jang, Chairman of the Korean SMEs and Startups Association in Indonesia (KOSA), donated a television to enhance the lounge’s facilities, further showcasing the support of the Korean community for this cross-cultural initiative.
The highlight of the academic collaboration was the MOU signing between President University and Soongsil University, Korea. The agreement was signed by both university presidents to strengthen cooperation in education and research. To close the celebration, guests enjoyed a campus tour and participated in the Youth and Humane Entrepreneurship Seminar, led by Dr. Ayman El Tarabishy, President of ICSB. The entire day represented a meaningful step forward in President University’s vision of being a world-class institution that connects cultures, ideas, and entrepreneurial leadership.
